1.) In the story, their were many details that were effective to help the reader "see" the cruise ship and the birthday party. For example when the author described the restaurant on the cruise ship she said, " The restaurant, was complete with glided columns, sun patterned wallpaper, and enormous chandeliers, highlighted all that has remained in Western culture.
2.) I believe that Ms. Dumas is trying to be funny because she said " have passengers speed-dialing the Department of Homeland Security." I believe this quote was meant to be humorus. If this quote was not there, it would be considered more serious.
3.) I think how the author feels about her father is that he dosn't take life to serious. I think this way because say says in the story that " When immigrants come to America, they often have the opportunity to develop in ways not possible in their native lands. For my father, America meant having perfect strangers sing him Happy Birthday."
4.) Firoozeh's relatives remind me of my Uncle Matt. Firoozeh's father reminds me the most of him. They are both alike in many ways, they both act way younger for their age, they don't take life too serious, and they both believe they are way younger then they are.

I definitely know someone who acts younger then his or her age, and that person is me. I am 18 years old and sometimes people say I act like i'm 8 years old. I sometimes laugh at such immature things and do immature stuff. I always want to laugh and have a good time, just like little kids do. I guess working with kids all day, has me feel this way. While their doing puzzles and swinging on the swings, I am right their next to them doing the same thing. When you grow up, you have so many responsibilities and so much stress to pay bills and to do college work. When your a kid you don't have anything to worry about. That's why I always say I wish I was a kid again. I still like to watch the latest kids movies that come out in theathers and I still eat Fruity Pebbles and Fruit Loops all the time. I really consider myself a big kid.
